Anna Lukashevsky (born 1975 in Vilnius, lives and works in Haifa) is a painter and member of New Barbizon, a group of women painters who were all born in the Soviet Union and emigrated to Israel with their families at the beginning of the 1990s. New Barbizon has since become a kind of art movement in Israel.
New Barbizon is dedicated to figurative painting, as a contemporary chronicler of the street, people and everyday life (in reference to the Barbizon artists’ colony in France in the 19th century, a school of landscape painting). Anna Lukashevsky will present New Barbizon in Zurich together with the Zurich painter Maria Pomiansky. Over the next four weeks, the artists will be travelling around Zurich with easels, canvases and notebooks.
