The last resident of the message salon embassy Zürich Nord, Adnan Softić, arrived at the Hunzikerareal at the end of July.
The message salon embassy studio becomes the starting point for encounters and discussions with Zurich artists and the neighbourhood in the Hunzikerareal. With Madame l’Ambassadeur, Adnan Softić explores the Zurich art scene and visits the Zurich theatre spectacle.
Adnan Softić, born in Sarajevo in 1975, lives and works in Hamburg. The artist will use his stay in Zurich to further his research for planned and future projects. Under the project title ‘room to negotiate’, an art space, meeting place and laboratory for visual and performative art is to be created in Hamburg – an experimental production centre and platform that brings together local, immigrant and refugee professional artists.
Adnan Softić makes films, theatre, exhibitions, books and researches social and political conflicts, history and architecture, memory and documentation. The artist has just been awarded the 3Sat Jury Prize at the Oberhausen Short Film Festival for his latest film project ‘Bigger Than Life’. Adnan Softić has been invited to the international film festival in his home city of Sarajevo in mid-August with this successful art film.
As part of the Werkschau Kanton Zürich programme, curated by Material, Raum für Buchkultur, Adnan Softić will be a guest at Haus Konstruktiv on 23 September with the reading and lecture performance ‘Eine Bessere Geschichte” (A BetterHistory), in german
