Knechte der Originalität

24/7, shop window Perla-Mode, Brauerstrasse 37, 8004 Zürich

In the Perla-Mode shop window, Ingrid Scherr presents a showcase installation with paintings and sculptures. Two gentlemen, King Ludwig II and Karl Marx, whose likenesses have already been heroised and celebrated countless times in paintings and sculptures, are united in the installation “Servants of Originality”. In a world conditioned to conformism and adaptation, originality is a characteristic that stands out from the crowd.
The two world-famous idealists and antipodes of the 19th century, the time when industrialisation paved the way for capitalism, each stand for a peculiar originality and eccentricity. Today, however, not only the tartar but also the social climate seems to be reflected in the faces of these gentlemen in an original way.

This summer, the Munich artist Ingrid Scherr, who comes from Hamburg, will end her stay of several months in the guest studio of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Zürcher Bildhauer (AZB) at Gaswerk Schlieren. Ingrid Scherr showed a joint exhibition with Peter Lynen at message salon in 2011.
