As part of their exhibition “Presents” at message salon, Veli & Amos are presenting the on-going project “The Billboard” – a large painting surface for sale on the terrace of Perla-Mode, directly above the busy Langstrasse. The billboard is painted by hand using spray cans, stencils, brushes and rollers. “The Billboard” is a platform for art, advertising, propaganda, love messages, congratulations, gossip and messages of all kinds. The clients and tenants benefit from a unique advertising space in the middle of the Langstrasse district and also support the artistic life of Veli & Amos with their commission.
With “The Billboard”, the Zurich duo Veli & Amos play not only on the shifting line between art, commissioned art and commerce, but also with the fame of the street. The brightly illuminated billboard cheekily interferes in the scramble for attention in a public space contested by advertising, neon signs, national flags, art and graffiti.
