Before message salon embassy‘s current artist in residence, Daniela Palimariu, leaves us to make her mark elsewhere we would like to celebrate her stay at Zurich Nord in style, with the release of message salon embassy Zine no. 11.
In her publication BRAIN FOG: For or against, Romanian artist Daniela Palimariu sheds light on vague, intuitive conditions, on as-yet-unrealised thoughts and brain waveswhirring around somewhere between mind and action, occasionally falling on paper and ending up in a sketch book. Among a resident’s activities is spending time in the temporary studio researching the inception of the artistic process: examining how thoughts form, how they assimilate each other, disappear or congeal, edge each other out, disrupt or enliven one another. This sharpens contours and orders chaos. Moments spent in a studio in a foreign city, poking around in the fog of one’s thoughts, constitute the beginning of a process whose continuation and end are similarly as yet unknown.
BRAIN FOG: For or against is an attempt at a selection and curation of sketched thoughts in the form of texts, drawings and photographs, which developed during Daniela Palimariu’s stay at message salon embassy Zurich Nord in the spring of 2018.
