On Sunday, 30 September, message salon embassy is hosting its last event for a resident at the studio in Zürich Nord. After five successful residencies featuring Sandro Sulaberidze and Ninutsa Shatberashvili (Georgia), Rafal Pierzynski (Poland), Daniela Palimariu (Romania), Desislava Pancheva (Bulgaria) and Adnan Softić (Germany/Bosnia), message salon embassy Zürich Nord – an art project of Madame l’Ambassadeur Esther Eppstein’s made possible by the “mehr als wohnen” housing cooperative – is coming to an end: at the end of October it will leave the Hunzikerareal and the branch will close.
First, however, Madame l’Ambassadeur will celebrate Adnan Softić, the current resident, with a presentation of message salon embassy’s Zine #14 and an exclusive screening of one of the artist’s award-winning films.
Artist, film maker and author Adnan Softić, of Hamburg and Sarajevo, will round out his eleven-week stay in Zurich with the publication of “Bibby Challenge”, presenting the artist’s extensive research in the form of a published “Lecture Performance”. “Bibby Challenge” is a text, an illustrated monologue, a set of questions, or perhaps a film script about fleeing, migration, the sea, ships, and arriving at safe ports. With a touch of the autobiographical about it, the zine takes both an artistic and documentary approach.
A week before the final event, Adnan Softić will be hosted at Materialschau 2018, a project by Material – Raum für Buchkultur, as part of the cantonal arts grant exhibition at Haus Konstruktiv, followed by a dramatic reading.
Sunday, 23 September, 3 to 4 pm
A dramatic reading with Adnan Softić.
The current resident of message salon embassy Zürich Nord reads from his 2017 publication, “A Better History/Eine bessere Geschichte”.
Reading in German, 3 pm sharp, Haus Konstruktiv, Selnaustrasse 25, 8001 Zurich
