Danish artist Christian Falsnaes, based in Vienna, has been traveling to international institutions, galleries, and art spaces for some time now to develop his performances and exhibitions with art audiences. The art space is a place of encounter, action, and agitation. Art is celebrated with relish, the artist is the role model, the agitator and mastermind behind the audience’s conquest of the art space. The artist inspires people to surpass themselves and do unexpected things.
Christian Falsnaes plays with social genres and tests the hierarchical power relationship between artist and audience. In doing so, he raises questions about authority, obedience, and complicity, belief, and (self-)confidence. His performances unfold a subversive power and, for those involved, a moment of revolutionary elation of power. The greatest power lies within us, in creation, in art, which belongs to all of us, whether in the streets of cities or in the art space. Anything is possible if we want it!
On the occasion of the performance at Perla-Mode, message salon is publishing Christian Falsnaes’ zine “A good reason is one that looks like one” in a limited edition of 100 copies.
