The spirited lithographs and monotypes by Zurich artist Zuni Haplern reveal strong feelings, imagination and expression. The artist cites the aesthetics of expressive-abstract painting and psychedelic colour riots of the sixties, as well as the serial character of pop art. The noticeable influence of textiles, fashion and zeitgeist points to a search for individual expression in the field of tension between mass and reproduction. Despite recurring pictorial elements, each graphic sheet is unique, which seems to contradict the intention of the printing process and the graphic. For the artist, the graphic as a medium is equivalent to the original painting or drawing.
