Geneva-based artist Solvej Dufour Andersen is presenting her first solo exhibition in Zurich at the message salon and throughout the Perla-Mode premises. Solvej Dufour Andersen explores the mystery of the human voice, an enchanting, hypnotic conveyor of feelings and states of mind. The installations at Perla-Mode lead into rooms where the sound of voices and light sources create an atmosphere of a fleeting, elusive, almost mystical state. In the basement of Perla-Mode, “Elfmaids” sing in a sparkling sea of stars. On the ground floor, illuminated by green light, a male voice sings a melody, self-forgetful and fragile, a catchy tune.
The video “The Canadian” captivates viewers with a protagonist who tells of an acquaintance that has fantastical elements and hints at a fascinating, unattainable world. The camera follows the narrator’s body language and explores the expression on the human face.
In Geneva, Solvej Dufour Andersen runs the artist-run space planet22 with artist Peter Stoffel, with whom she was a guest at the message salon on Rigplatz in 2005 with an exhibition.
