25 July, 7 - 11 pm, concert "Ehfa+Stini", 8 pm

Stini Arn and Ehfa Hiltbrunner present their first joint exhibition at message salon downtown. “jungle fever” is a lively collaboration between two individual artists. The interior of the Perla-Mode house becomes a walk-in organism that can be experienced. A jungle full of transformed animals, rampant plants and disturbing noises spreads out over three floors. In a setting of collected sound recordings and sound tricks created by audio artist Stini Arn, Ehfa Hiltbrunner’s furry and mythical creatures settle between art and nature.

A morbid, technoid forest crypt lurks in the underbelly and underground, the cellar of the house, filled with the acoustic image of the Langstrasse entertainment mile, its street life and the hustle and bustle of clubs. On the ground floor, the belly, the life, breathes a lush jungle. Plants thrive in the light, they grow real or artificial, entwining mutated creatures that seem to spring from a disturbing vision of the future. Sound objects and electronic sound devices surprise the jungle travellers from ambush. Nature and artificiality, animals and humans are presented in a witty conglomeration, a paradise of horrors.

Finally, on the first floor of Perla-Mode, the head, the two artists show objects and pictures. The memories in the form of travel pictures, collected objects and artefacts point to constant looking back and collating. This utilisation of material and thoughts, of sound and image recordings, resembles the function of the human brain, which immediately tries to sort and categorise information, impressions and feelings.

Stini Arn and Ehfa Hiltbrunner will perform an exclusive joint concert at the finissage. In this performance, Stini Arn plays her Koffertechnik, a self-made electronic instrument, accompanied by Ehfa Hiltbrunner and her belly synthi.
