Mayo’s Ti-Shört Schop

During this summer, the young Zurich artist Mayo Irion used the now vacant message salon Rigiplatz premises as a studio. This also resulted in the creation of the series of handmade T-shirts entitled “Kauf dir etwas Schönes” (“Buy yourself something nice”). The collection is now on display and available for purchase at message salon, on the first floor of Perla-Mode, in Mayo’s shop installation “Mayo’s T-Shört Schop” (“Mayo’s T-shirt shop”), buy yourself something nice!
Mayo uses spray cans and stencils, the tools of graffiti art, to spray directly onto the fabrics, creating funny and subversive designs. Mayo ironically comments on the modern habit of displaying advertising, messages, logos and symbols on T-shirts.
