The dancer and performer Rafał Pierzyński is the second guest of the message salon embassy in Zurich North. During the residency, Rafał Pierzyński invites different people to his studio to explore the diverse aspects of movement, body and physicality in conversations, games and training sessions. The artist’s studio becomes a retreat and an intimate salon, while the non-public sessions and encounters serve as research for future projects.
Rafał Pierzyński (1991) was drawn away from the Polish province at an early age, first to Krakow to attend art school and then to study contemporary dance and performance at the Anton Bruckner University in Linz, Austria, graduating with a master’s degree in 2017. Rafał Pierzyński found a kindred spirit and accomplice in the Polish performer Aga Pędziwiatr, who was the same age as him. As part of the international artist expedition Sound Development City, the two performers formed the joint project DIVAS in 2016.
