The temporary art-in-architecture project on the Hunziker site is coming to an end. In October, the message salon embassy will close its branch in Zurich North, which opened in August 2017, for good. But before that, Madame l’Ambassadeur is welcoming friends and neighbours to the last event in the studio on the Hunzikerareal.
The current and last artist in residence, artist and filmmaker Adnan Softić, says goodbye to Zurich with the presentation of the message salon embassy zine ‘Bibby Challenge’, an illustrated monologue, an associative question or perhaps even a screenplay that talks about flight, migration, the sea, ships and arriving in a safe harbour and deals with the topic in an autobiographically underpinned, artistic-documentary approach.
Adnan Softić will be showing his latest film ‘Bigger Than Life’ at the Atelier im Hunzikerareal.
‘Bigger Than Life’ is a musical film in four acts and deals with the “Skopje 2014” project, with which the Macedonian capital Skopje wants to build a brand new, ancient city centre costing several million euros. ‘In Bigger Than Life, the Skopje of the present becomes an excavation site where you can follow in real time how history is made, antiquity is constructed, historical uniqueness is created through imitation and the boundaries between truth and forgery become blurred. ’‘Bigger Than Life’ has just been awarded the 3Sat Jury Prize at the Oberhausen Short Film Festival 2018.
