message salon has been invited to participate in the exhibition “espèces d’espaces”, curated by Michele Faguet at the Swiss Institute in New York, alongside the independent art spaces Galeria Chilena (Santiago de Chile) and Local/Lac (Caracas). In the exhibition space, Esther Eppstein is showing a shop installation featuring souvenirs from Zurich and presenting the publication message salon Ankerstrasse, released this summer, alongside the VHS tape “Der message salon Fotoband”. To mark the exhibition, the Swiss Institute has had the texts in the publication translated into English. The books, CDs, records, cassettes, postcards and multiples by artists from Zurich installed in the souvenir shop are available for purchase. At the opening, Esther Eppstein will be running the shop in person, offering the audience American canned beer and providing information about the message salon art space.

On the Monday following the opening, SI/NY will present a video screening at the Anthology Film Archive in New York featuring works by artists associated with the invited art spaces. message salon will present the videos “Tannhois” by Stini Arn and Nicoletta Wartmann, 1997; “Treppstein ensemble” by Treppstein (Selina Trepp and Esther Eppstein), 1997; “Missoula montana” by Micha Lang Stromprod., 1997; “Der König” by Carla Lia Monti, 1998.
