For one night only, the message salon Take Away Cassette Shop is open!
message salon is visiting the Theater an der Winkelwiese and is opening the Take Away Cassette Shop in its venerable Art Nouveau Villa Tobler, selling audio cassettes by artists from the message salon’s circle of influence.
Following a call for entries in the relevant music, DJ and art scenes, four days before the event, producers of music cassettes turn up at the message salon office at Ankerstrasse 6; they hand over their cassettes to message salon for registration and set the price. Cassette tapes are cheap and easy to produce; message salon includes every cassette in its range, without record deals, managers, selection or censorship – pure underground. The tapes can be short or long, and can contain original, remixed or stolen music, as well as speech, noise, hits or flops.
Esther Eppstein stages the entrusted cassettes in an ad-hoc shop installation in an unused room at Villa Tobler, in the upmarket District 1. The night-time crowd is invited to browse the unique selection at the message salon Take Away Cassette Shop, listen to the cassettes on display via headphones at the staffed listening station, and buy them!
Featuring cassettes by: minimetal, DJ Kay-Zee (Suntic Rec.), Moritz, Susann Walder, Klettermax, Alexis S., Maria, Sandra Künzi, DJ Dimitri, Stini, Bang Goes, Treppstein, Birkhäuser, Jörg Köppl, Beat Huber, Lullaby, Chritz & Chratz & Angela, Carmen, Orza, Double B, Ganzerplatz, Weyermann, DJ Sonic, Domiex, Bonneville, and more!
