‘Order against Esther Eppstein for pornographic projection (using a projector) onto a wall visible from public property.’
In June 2009, the Zurich District Court acquitted Esther Eppstein on all charges.
The exhibition “Projections” – a summary – revisits the case, which was heard before the Zurich District Court in May of this year.
The incriminated work “Projections” by Petr Motycka is projected in Perla-Mode, alongside the defence plea by Micha Kobsa, as well as documents and information about the court case. Souvenirs, pictures and photographs with motifs relating to the court case, which attracted attention on Langstrasse, in the art scene, in legal circles and in the press, are also available for purchase.
Esther Eppstein, operator of the message salon art space, challenged the fine imposed by the city court in 2008 without the support of any cultural or political institution. During the court proceedings and after the verdict was announced, Esther Eppstein received a great deal of solidarity. Now she also needs financial support, because despite the compensation awarded by the court, legal fees remain outstanding.
In Perla-Mode, Petr Motycka, a member of the Prague-based artists’ group Pode Bal, talks about his video installation “Projections”, created in Zurich, which was projected in June 2008 at the message salon on Langstrasse, on the terrace of Perla-Mode, and ultimately led to the well-known legal proceedings that followed.
