message salon is a guest at Zurich’s Helsinki music club, presenting spectralina, the performance duo from Chicago, USA.
spectralina is experimental, combining video and audio, images and music, played live and mixed live. Multi-instrumentalist Dan Bitney plays laptop and drums, while Selina Trepp composes video images with keyboard and laptop. Images and music are equally important, and the interplay between them emerges in improvised sessions.
The artist Selina Trepp was born in Zurich and now lives and works in Chicago. The American musician and multi-instrumentalist Dan Bitney is a member of the well-known Chicago rock band Tortoise.
In autumn 2002, one of the first spectralina shows ever took place at the message salon on Rigiplatz. Since then, Selina Trepp and Dan Bitney have performed in numerous museums, galleries and clubs in the USA.
