At the invitation of message salon embassy and Madame l’Ambassadeur Esther Eppstein, the Russian artist duo Gorod Ustinov are currently travelling through the city of Zurich with Museum.Delivery, possibly with the “Museum of one Dress” in their luggage: the flowered dress from their Russian hometown of Izhevsk is worn by different people and in different situations, slipped on, wrapped around, crumpled up or thrown into the air. The dress is not only an artefact with a hidden context, but also a medium, a game and a barter. On Instagram, people follow the dress in an 80s cut – a tribute to youth in the Russian provinces and an homage to the fashionable women and mothers who often made these kinds of dresses themselves.
Gorod Ustinov explore the possibilities of the museum. Museum.Delivery is an art service that accepts commissions: Gorod Ustinov invent museums wherever they are wanted. With the statement “the museum is a situation”, Gorod Ustinov locate the museum as an ideal place that can take place anywhere.
Museum.Delivery combines various art techniques, creates micro-installations from everyday and found materials, collects objects and artworks from artist friends and creates new objects, stories and museums in workshops and conversations with the public.
Gorod Ustinov explore the concepts of home and rootedness. The “Museum of Langstrasse” is created during their stay in Zurich. Gorod Ustinov dig in the “earth of Langstrasse” and bring wondrous things to light. In their studio in the 25hours Hotel, they create delicate, fragile objects from textiles, wood, moss and found materials from Langstrasse. Gorod Ustinov will continue to arrange and expand the artefacts in the shop window of the Die Diele art space until the vernissage.
On 25 July, the exhibition “Erde der Langstrasse”(earth of Langstrasse) will be inaugurated as a new museum in the presence of Gorod Ustinov and the publication message salon embassy Zine No. 17 will be released.
